about

After the great shining electric star of David Bowie had passed on and into the outer realm, Derek and I had discussed writing a song about Bowie.
The result was an experiment in words and sound. Messing about with synthesizers and feedback loops for the intro, I wanted to create sounds in the spirit of Space Oddity in the intro to our song in progress.. Being fascinated by interstellar space, I came across an article that spoke of sounds that the Voyager 1 had picked up from Saturn back in 2012. The article had mentioned the word heliopause, which defines the boundary of where solar wind ends, stopped by the interstellar medium. Derek found a cool way to bring the word into song with his tasteful play on the cosmos and our lonely astronaut character and thus the Star of David tune took form. This one's for you, thin white duke wherever you may be, out there past the heliopause.

lyrics

There's the lonely astronaut
Rebel with no cause
Breaking records, now he's caught
Breaking all of Newton's laws

Brushing past those nebulae
Where you goin now?
Spaceman gonna do and die
Spaceman show us how
Out there past the heliopause
Where you going next?
Mass approaching infinite
Time becomes compressed

Now you're drifting out of sight
Now you're drifting out of sight
Against black velvet diamonds bright
Vacuum's got no sound
Blinding quasars with your light
Tell us what you found

Out there past the heliopause
Where you going next?
Mass approaching infinite
Time becomes compressed

Now you're drifting out of sight
Now you're drifting out of sight
Out there past the heliopause
Where you going next?
Mass approaching infinite
Time becomes compressed

Blinding quasars with your light
Now you're drifting out of sight
Now you're drifting out of
Out of sight out of time
Out of sight out of time
Out of sight out of time
