Around the time I moved to California at the end of a long summer in 2011, I hit the open road to Joshua Tree with my acoustic guitar and a love song in my head.
I was lucky to assemble some good friends at Red Barn Recorders to help me capture the tune.
As I sat beneath the milky way with a galaxy of thoughts and a longing heart full of hope, the desire to also share this particular view with my lover was inspiring and so the song Stagazers was born.

I tracked the acoustic guitar and vocal live and then we built it from there as Robbi, Eric, Dino, Neal and Gar became my wall of sound, cutting the basic track together.
I struggled a bit with the drum part which surprised me as the part was quite simple, but sometimes the minimalist approach can have it's own set of challenges.
We decided to take a break under the starry night, with the nectar of agave and the accompanying sounds of distant coyote's. I'll never forget Eric telling me to "play that", pointing to the night sky.
So we plugged back in and I laid way back with the groove and we got it in 2 takes!
