After spending some down time in Greece this summer, there were many mornings of contemplation and reflecting on life, especially while visiting ancient sites such as Pella and Meteora.
I began to wonder about previous civilizations (which is easy to do while in Greece)
Observing some notable archeology sites along the way and then watching many epic sunrises while on Crete, I think it ultimately gave me the inspiration for this song.
This one was a departure for me with the darker elements of minor chords bringing on a bit of sadness I suppose but I like to think of the song not totally abandoning all hope either. In a way it's an ode to nature and the miracle of being alive.
Lyrically I really couldn't say where I was going with this one, but there's no denying what we can see happening around us with our own eyes regarding climate change.
And perhaps acknowledging the simple things in life and the loving of nature and the preservation of it.

The song is honestly still a work in progress, but here it is.
Always enjoying the process of writing and recording.
Cathartic at best and an expression that felt natural for me to mellow it all down easy with a piano tune with some minimal textures.
